Build Storage Cabinet With Doors

Build the front of the frame in the same pattern as the back 8 feet wide and 8 feet tall.

The 1x2 in the front should form a lip to prevent things from sliding off easily. To determine the length measure the cabinet opening and add 3 4 in. Make them the same as the base see previous section and image 5 above but swap out the 2x2 s for 1x2 s. Center the doors on the cabinet with a 1 8 inch space between them.

Take the height of the door you want and add 1 8 in. Cut plywood to make the doors to fit these openings. I needed to organize my garage so i build some large storage cabinet with doors. To frame out the cabinets secure 8 foot 2x4s perpendicular at 36 across and 60 across.

Position the doors over the hinges using shims to maintain a 1 8 in. This will give you two 3 feet wide cabinets on the ends and a 2 foot wide cabinet in the middle. For each one you ll need two stiles the vertical parts two rails the horizontal parts and one panel. Figuring the length of the stiles is easy.

Use clamps or weights to hold the doors in place. Measure how tall you need the bottom shelf and mark for reference. Cut the doors and set them in place to check the fit before banding the edges. I show you how i built a large storage cabinet with doors for my garage.
