Unfortunately you can t simply apply an ordinary paint over your chalkboard surface. We used to wholesale for bb frosch which is a chalk paint powder. I searched the internet to see if anyone had tried this but i wasn t able to find anything. Annie sloan created the concoction making it thicker which requires less layers so you can paint faster. It wasn t original but was upgraded in the early 90s by a flipper and had the ubiquitous black granite counters brown wood cabinets and ugly builder grade tile. Plus it dries fast faster so you re done with the total task quickly.

But children often outgrow that decor as they reach their teenage years which means that it s time to cover the chalkboard with a more attractive color of paint. After painting my cabinets i started thinking about painting my counter tops. I wasn t apposed to going that route but what i really wanted to do is paint them with annie sloan chalk paint. Not to be confused with chalkboard paint.

The first thing i did in this space was paint the cabinets black using amy howard chalk paint in black and replaced the dated hardware. Can you paint over granite counters.
